Martin Thompson : Photography.
After two successful solo exhibitions in 2004 & 2005 Martin's third exhibition at The Bettie Morton Gallery explores London's past - `Urban fossils'. The work allows the viewer to go on an archeological tour of old London, the world's first consumer metropolis. Large photographic prints of the faded remnants of long forgotten consumer goods from all over the world take you back in time and gives a glimpse of a previous world. The traces of advertising legends such, Lipton Tea, Bovril, Sunlight Soap, flickerless film, are rescued, enhanced and presented in a fresh and contemporary medium.
Martin’s work is grounded in a marriage of the pure photography he studied at the Royal College of Art and the digital imaging skills he now embraces.
Martin works as a professional photographer in London. His advertising, magazine and illustration work has taken him all over the world and his work is held in many private, corporate & public collections including Mckinsey & Company Ltd., Harrods & Lambeth College.
